Who are you without your humanity?

Who are you without your humanity?

A product, content, a service, something to be consumed.

And it all leads to burnout. It is unnatural, it’s not biological to continue in spite of. To work while sick, while grieving, while suffering.

Capitalism asks us to equate value through the guise of our productivity.

Through consuming and doing. Defining ourselves into neat dollar signs and barely making it through the month.

But what has it done for us lately? The climate is in shambles, pollution is everywhere, the abandonment of humanity seeps into every corner of society.

When do we slow down—match the rhythms of earth, seasons, internal time?

when do we look around and see how blue the sky is?

Feel the rise and fall of ocean and rain.

After years of life throwing me of the courses I was told were the right roads…

Each pothole was a reality check.

(after much breakdowns and falling apart might I add)

the truth is:

I am more than the programming of the salary I have been appraised for.

I am more than the 12+ hours of underpayment & overwork.

After years of being thrusted into experiences with no plan. I learned:

That in mysterious & loving ways I am always provided for when I look beyond the ways capitalism has isolated us from community.

the ways that I have been silently told to take care of myself had to fall away.

The vicious responsibility of self preservation has become a form of proof of concept. Instead of actual preservation.

To preserve: shoutout to Webster : to keep safe from injury, harm, or destruction : PROTECT

: to keep alive, intact, or free from decay

: to keep or save from decomposition

To make a preserve takes time, dedication, help and patience if it’s in your own garden.

Support, the jar is from somewhere, the ingredients are from somewhere. The time is yours.

to survive: to continue to function or prosper despite : WITHSTAND

Exhaustion kills People.

what does it look like for us to be taken care of?

To be poured into?

To be valuable because you exist. To see others as miracles because they exist and we do so together.

How does our humanity affirm our abilities for creation, imaginings and liberation?

Perhaps cars is not allowing us an excess of wealth. But value, resources, possibility, expansion that are just enough for tomorrow. Why not you? You’ve done the most for so long. You’re not alone.

what if one piece of bread turned into sharing what one another and you all have and it turns into a full meal? Where you all sit together?

A few grains of rice turns into a meal miraculously.

the magic is in un-dictated time. What will you do with freedom? How will it shape you and you it?

Have you allowed yourself deep rest, emotional restoration, a chance to pursue being alive?

What if tomorrow—what if will always come to the mind. But tomorrow isn’t promised.

What will you do now?

The now that you are learning to be worthy in.
