The Crown - National Headwrap Day

My best friend invited me to the Ankara Pop Up : Art is Wrap Class

I learned three things : 

There is a sisterhood in the wrapping of your head that is undeniably sincere,

My gorgeous teachers, Adoch of Latamwic.com and Petra of Hair is Art Salon, were genuinely excited to share their knowledge and back story of wrapping their own crown and helped each one of us while empowering us to embrace the natural flow of the fabric. Their was a magic bonding in the room that filled me with peace and pride. 

The beauty of the crown is universal,

A tiny older latin lady stopped my mother and I in Publix , while on vacation in Bonita Springs and she said "oye que bonita! How beautiful," with such joy and glee, it made my day.

The swag is different, it's like being a quinceañera   all day. You get to walk around with a crown on your head all day- assume the regal swag.

I have wrapped my head bt not with such elegance until after my workshop. I tested it over the weekend; overjoyed that it fell into National Headwrap Day on 11/20 in rather limited diverse spaces. Once the crown is up I walk different, I Swag different, I emit regality. 

This indeed isn't just a day but a celebration of pride in your Diasporic Roots, a lifestyle.
